Capturing the Moment Jose Asked Crystal to Marry Him

There’s something incredibly special about being a part of a surprise engagement — the quiet coordination, the secret excitement, and then that beautiful, joy-filled moment. Recently, I had the honor of capturing Jose’s surprise proposal to his girlfriend, Crystal, on the stunning Old Baldy Trail in Concan, TX, and it couldn’t have gone more perfectly.

When Jose first inquired with me, he knew he wanted to make the proposal extra meaningful. We were able to devise a plan that kept everything under wraps until just the right moment. I asked him if he wanted to add an extra hour to his session — and I’m so glad he did! Most girls are so excited to share their engagement, and why not make the most of that fresh joy with a full session of beautiful photos to announce their big news?

While the actual proposal was hidden and completely unseen to preserve the surprise, what followed was just as special. Once Crystal said “yes,” we jumped right into capturing those joyful, emotional moments — followed by a more styled session that gave them beautiful images they could proudly share with friends and family.

And here’s the best part: at the very last minute, Tyler Pearl, with Tyler Pearl Media stepped in as the videographer and helped us capture the whole experience in motion. I’m now offering video coverage for proposals for a small added cost — and it’s absolutely worth it. There’s just something about hearing the words, the laughter, and seeing the emotion in motion that makes a video incredibly powerful.

Jose and Crystal were a dream to photograph, and the sweeping views from Old Baldy gave us the perfect backdrop to tell their story. From the surprise to the sweet embraces afterward, it was a day full of love, laughter, and excitement — and I’m so honored to have been there to document it all.
