Hannah and Conner
Hannah and Connor's La Bonne Vie Ranch wedding in Fredericksburg, TX was a relaxed and heartfelt celebration grounded in connection, not perfection. As their photographer, I was honored to document the kind of day where presence mattered more than poses, and where laughter, family, and shared moments came first.
Their love story began in the bustling city of Houston, where a dating app sparked what would become a deep and lasting bond. From fancy dinners and traveling with their pups to cozy nights with close friends, their life together is rooted in joy, companionship, and making the most of every moment. When it came time to choose a wedding venue, they knew they wanted more than just a pretty location. La Bonne Vie Ranch offered them the chance to turn their wedding into a full weekend getaway with loved ones. With onsite lodging and a setting that invited celebration to stretch well beyond the reception, it was the perfect place to gather and be fully present.
It was a beautiful spring day in the Texas Hill Country—blue skies, gentle sunshine, and strong winds that whipped across the ranch at nearly 30 miles per hour. But rather than disrupt the day, the wind added a sense of movement and life. Veils danced, hair lifted with the breeze, and laughter echoed across the open spaces.
One of the most emotional moments came early: Hannah's first look with her dad. As soon as she saw him, the tears came. It was raw, beautiful, and deeply moving. Later, a quieter but equally meaningful moment came during her first look with her grandmother—a moment of generational connection and love that set the tone for the rest of the day.
Their ceremony took place in the open-air chapel at La Bonne Vie Ranch, which offered beautiful rustic charm while allowing fresh air to flow through its open sides. Bridesmaids wore flowing blue maxi dresses in varying patterns, perfectly capturing the relaxed spring elegance of the day, while the groomsmen balanced the look in classic black tuxes.
A memorable highlight? The couple playfully embraced their college rivalry during the reception: Hannah, a proud Texas A&M Aggie, led the War Hymn with her fellow alumni, and Connor, a Razorback through and through, followed up by calling the Hogs—a surprise twist that had the whole room cheering and laughing.
Inside the reception, Hannah's personal touch shined through with elegant blue china plates selected specifically for the tables. The palette of soft blues and whites continued throughout the decor, bringing a cohesive, timeless look to the celebration.
The venue itself added to the charm—with a rustic flair, a grand chandelier, and an outdoor covered patio that made the space both practical and picturesque. The mix of comfort and character made it easy for guests to relax and enjoy every part of the day.
The real beauty of this wedding wasn’t just in the colors or the details—though those were lovely. It was in the way the day felt. There was no rush. No pressure to pose or perform. Just joy, connection, and intentional time with the people who mattered most. The couple prioritized experience over everything else. Because the venue offered full weekend lodging, the celebration didn’t stop when the reception ended. Friends and family stayed late into the night, talking, laughing, and soaking in every moment.
Hannah and Connor chose me because they saw how I capture real connection. We worked together for engagements, bridals, and their wedding day, and from the start, their trust in me allowed for storytelling that felt authentic. My role wasn’t to stage a performance—it was to document their day with care, respect, and an eye for the moments that matter.
After their engagement session, the couple shared: “Ruth is magic behind the lens!! She somehow perfectly captured my (future) husband’s and my personalities after knowing us for approximately 15 minutes. Ruth is also incredibly professional and easy to work with. We love our engagement and bridal photos and couldn’t wait to work with her on our big day!”
Then, after receiving their full wedding gallery, they followed up with: “Best wedding, engagement, bridal photographer (and more)! Ruth was so accommodating and delivered the best photos that we will cherish forever 💕 I can’t recommend her enough.”
